Preserving the Past, Building the Future: A New Engine House for Garyville
We’re excited to announce the development of a new engine house, designed to support the maintenance and care of Southern Pacific 745, our other locomotives, rail cars, and essential equipment.
This modern facility will be built in a style that matches the historic museum building, preserving the character of the former Lyon Cypress Lumber Company Headquarters while giving us the capability to operate and maintain our vintage rail equipment.
But that’s not all—the new shop will also become a key part of our long-term vision by supporting a railroad & industrial training program, helping prepare the next generation of railroaders and skilled tradespeople.
From preservation to education, this engine house will help power the future of the @Garyville Northern Railroad. Stay tuned as planning progresses!
